The leaders at Trinity are closely monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. We are following Public Health protocols and the United Church Emergency plan. We are also sharing information with the emergency response teams at the other United Churches in Guelph.

The church is now closed until March 28, at which time we will reassess the situation.

Rev. Gaylyn returned to Canada from Florida on March 10. She is in self-isolation for 14 days. Rev. John is on vacation in Florida now; we expect he will go into self-isolation upon return to Canada on  March 18.

With the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, spreading around the globe, here are some practical steps you can take to safeguard yourself and your family

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water throughout the day. Take a bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitizer when you go out.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Cough into your elbow or a tissue, discarding the tissue right away then cleaning your hands.
  • Stay home if you’re sick. If you need to see your doctor, let the office know your symptoms ahead of time. Call Telehealth when your doctor is unavailable as treatment options may be changing in the community.
  • Greet one another without shaking hands.
  • Think through childcare and work options if you need to be at home.
  • Keep a week’s worth of easily prepared food on hand. Don’t forget your pets.
  • Fill your prescriptions.
  • Set up a daily check in with a friend, neighbour or family member if you live alone or know someone who does. A quick email, phone call or text can make all the difference if you’re not feeling well.
  • Set up online banking if you don’t already use it.
  • Check current recommendations regarding travel and attendance at large gatherings.
